Student Advocacy Specialist (Tutor Program Coordinator)
The Morgan Academic Center (MAC) Tutor Program Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director of Learning Services, organizes tutorial support for over 800 student-athletes across 31 teams (individual, small group, and drop-in), monitors compliance of program policies and procedures, and assists with ongoing projects as assigned to enhance the overall operation and delivery of all MAC Learning Services. Responsibilities include recruiting, hiring, training, and scheduling of tutors in a wide range of subjects; facilitating trainings to comply with the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) certification requirements for ongoing professional development of our tutor staff; maintaining databases for data collection and preparing reports regarding student needs, program utilization, and outcomes of our learning services. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills, along with an ability to effectively manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment are required. Applicants must possess technological proficiency with Excel, Access, web-based management systems or comparable software. Additionally, the Tutor Program Coordinator may participate in the recruiting process to discuss services at the Morgan Academic Center and Penn State University with prospective student-athletes and families. Finally, evening and weekend hours will be required. Must maintain strict adherence to NCAA and Big Ten Conference rules and regulations affecting the sport and the University.
