Family and Outreach Services Director
Social Work – Working with Children/families both in the hospital and out. Working with Social Workers at each of the hospitals to develop relationships so they refer patients to us and we engage them in our programs and activities. Counselling children and families when needed. Coordinating social workers, medical personnel and counselors for each program and activity that is overnight so that we have adequate staffing for any issues that arise for participating children.
Responsible for initial Intakes of new families and updating records of new and returning families.
Outreach to Greenville and Columbia Hospitals – Meet with these social workers monthly to determine their children’s and family’s needs and to get referrals. Work on engaging Greenville and Columbia social workers in our programs and activities.
Plan and implement small personalized programs (Check Up, Dream Dates, Financial Assistance, F.A.C.T. Clinic) – these programs offer encouragement, resources and support to engage families. This includes traveling across the state but specifically in key areas such as Charleston, Greenville, Columbia and Myrtle Beach.
Outreach Efforts for Partnerships and New CHD Families across SC- Set up a plan to stay in communication with these families from across the state so that they know what we offer and we increase participation in each of our programs.
Conduct Camp Counselor Interviews - Follow Camp Counselor procedures to hire the summer camp volunteers. Run background checks on each applicant and perform interviews to screen and hire eligible applicants.
Camp Social Worker & Liaison – Be the main professional counselor for the week of Camp, recruit and direct volunteers with professional counseling skills to attend Camp. Counsel campers and volunteers throughout the week. Work with medical staff to make sure we are in compliance and to insure we are adequately staffed and following protocols. Lead emergency and crisis intervention personnel at Camp. This includes going to the hospital with any medical emergencies of campers and volunteers.
Programs Policies and Procedures – Work on the current policies and procedures manual and bring it up to date for all programs. This includes working directly with the Programs Director and the Programs Committee.
Develop a monthly report showing the number of meetings with families either new or in need, program support efforts, social worker/hospital meetings and events.
College Degree Required (Masters Preferred)
Must have 3 to 4 years experience
Must be able to lift 25 lbs and stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, walk and/or run. Must have own vehicle and valid driver's license. Must be available to work evenings/weekends.
Strong Professional Counselor
Strong Networking skills
Knowledge and experience working with Excel, Word, Publisher, PowerPoint and Constant Contact. Knowledge and experience working with CampSite or equivalent camp software and Raisers Edge a plus.
Planning/Organizing abilities (scheduling events, contacting vendors/volunteers/families)
Social media knowledge
Able to work well with children and adults
Ability to work nights & weekends when needed (in order to work events)
