The mission of Georgian Court University's Writing Center is to improve student writing of all levels and disciplines. Offering more than copy editing services, tutors provide personalized instruction that will develop students' skills and help them become more confident writers. The professional tutor offers one-on-one, collaborative consultation to any member of the GCU community who makes an appointment at the Writing Center. Professional tutors also assist the Director with assessment activities. This a part-time temporary position based upon the needs of the department.
Tutor during scheduled tutoring sessions
Attend training sessions for tutors at the beginning of every semester
Attend staff meetings to reinforce training skills
Write a 1-paragraph report of each tutoring session
Assist the Director with assessment activities
Prepare and distribute materials to publicize the Writing Center
Visit classrooms at the beginning of the semester to promote the Writing Center
Assist the Director with planning and hosting workshops
